This extraordinary lady improved the management of unpaid meal debt, she spearheaded the transition to a modern communication platform. By integrating this digital tool alongside traditional phone calls and emails, she created a more efficient, user friendly way for parents to stay informed about student accounts and benefits, increasing free/reduced 5%.
Shaina Whitehead of Jackson County SD Child Nutrition Department has earned the Manager of the Year Award.
This extraordinary lady transformed the physical and operational environment to better serve her student population. Recognizing that many students eligible for free meals were missing the traditional breakfast window, she championed and implemented a “Second Chance Breakfast” program.
Karen Albrecht of Hancock County SD Child Nutrition Department has earned the Director of the Year Award.
This extraordinary lady saw a chance for change. With the goal of retention, strategic professional development proved successful. Since 2022, the nominee has implemented comprehensive annual training for approximately 40-50 staff members. Key modules include “The Reimbursable Meal,” cashier accuracy, and “Positive Conflict Resolution.
Purpose of MSNA
The purpose of the State Association shall be:
- To improve the health and education of school children through nutritionally adequate and educationally sound non-profit school food service programs.
- To maintain and further develop standards for school food service.
- To further the professional growth of members.
- To provide for an exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences and to promote cooperation and mutual help among the members.
- To encourage and promote between school lunch personnel and the community such united efforts as will assure for every school child adequate school food services.
- To promote legislation designed to foster adequate school food service programs.
- To promote interest in the recruitment and training of school food service personnel and to improve and protect their status.
- To serve as a medium for the distribution of information between national, state, and local associations.
